Experienced Private Piano Teacher | Beginners to Grade 8 | ABRSM Exam Preparation With 35 years of piano teaching experience, I provide personalised 1-to-1 piano lessons at the student's home, from beginners aged 5 onwards to students preparing for ABRSM Grade 1–8 examinations. Every student learns differently, so I tailor lessons according to the child's age, ability, learning pace and goals. My aim is not simply to teach students to play the notes, but to develop good technique, musical understanding, confidence and enjoyment of playing the piano. For students preparing for examinations, I provide structured guidance and help them work towards their target grade with appropriate preparation and regular progress. I believe children should be encouraged and challenged at the right pace. Consistent lessons, proper guidance and purposeful practice can make a meaningful difference to a student's progress. I monitor their progress closely and work towards clear goals, whether they are learning for enjoyment or preparing for piano examinations.
Your first lesson
The first lesson is about getting to know the student and understanding their current level, experience and goals. I assess their musical foundation and learning needs, then plan lessons accordingly. Parents can expect a patient and encouraging introduction, with a clear direction for the student's learning journey.
