I’m a London-based pianist, composer and experienced piano teacher, offering personalised online lessons for children and adults. I mainly teach classical piano, with a focus on strong technique, musical understanding, confidence and genuine enjoyment of playing. I teach students preparing for ABRSM and Trinity piano examinations, as well as students who simply want to learn and develop their playing without taking exams. Lessons are tailored to each student’s level and goals, whether they are preparing for an exam, developing their performance skills, or learning piano for pleasure. Alongside teaching, I work professionally as a pianist and musician, bringing real performance experience into my lessons. I can teach in both English and Japanese, and I’m passionate about helping students become confident, independent and expressive musicians rather than simply learning notes for an exam.
I place a lot of emphasis on how students practise, not just what they practise. I enjoy finding creative and practical ways to approach difficult passages and designing new ideas for each student’s practice sessions. My aim is to help students practise more effectively, become independent learners, and make steady progress while enjoying the process.
The first lesson is a relaxed opportunity for us to get to know each other and talk about your experience, interests and goals. If you’re a complete beginner, don’t worry about preparing anything beforehand. We’ll start from the basics and I’ll introduce you to the piano step by step. If you already play, you’re welcome to play something you’ve been learning so I can understand your current level. We’ll then discuss your goals and create a personalised plan for our lessons going forward.
